Premier Orchestral Institute, Pablo Saelzer Artistic Director
Our vision is to provide the Premier Orchestral Institute participants with a musical experience that will take them beyond the basics of "the right note at the right time," to a level where they can listen to themselves and the group they are playing in as they make music. Our goal is to provide an environment where the students experience the ways their personal work can contribute to a whole and in that way be part of something they could not accomplish individually. MSO believes that this can be a life-changing experience with repercussions beyond the musical experience.
This year Premier Orchestral Institute is a day camp and will take place from June 1-12, 2011.

2009 POI Faculty Concert:
POI AUDITIONS
In order to ensure a high quality experience for all involved, and also to place players within the ensembles, auditions are a requirement for participation at POI in the advanced and intermediate ensembles. Applicants must audition in advance, either in person or by submitting a recording in Youtube for more information please contact Alex Encinas, Director of Education of the Mississippi Symphony. The results of the auditions will be communicated by email or phone to the applicant.
AUDITION CONTENTS
Applicants must perform two contrasting pieces that showcases their abilities and musicianship. The selections may include single movements from diverse works, etudes, Suzuki numbers, etc. As a word of advice, no matter how difficult or easy the piece is, it is the level of preparation that is most important. In other words, the most important thing is how you play, not what you play.
AUDITION SUBMISSION
Applicants can submit recordings online, for example by using youtube.com. Auditions in person need to be scheduled directly with Mr. Encinas by email or phone.
PLACEMENT AUDITIONS
If necessary, there will be seating audition during the first day of POI using the POI 2011 repertoire.
REPERTOIRE
Parts will be sent to the participants once they fulfill the audition requirements.
