Informances
Our Informance Programs are developed to illustrate particular musical concepts from the mechanics of the instruments to the elements of a piece of music to the joys of being a musician. Presentations are full of wit, energy and enthusiasm. Using a lecture demonstration format, musicians in the three MSO resident ensembles (Brass Quintet, Woodwind Quintet, and String Quartet) will perform at your school by request.
For more information on how to bring MSO to your school, contact Alex Encinas, MSO Director of Education, at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or by calling 601.960.1565.
Another way to bring Informances to your school is by applying for a Mississippi Arts Commission Minigrant, which are designed to meet a variety of needs in communities, schools and arts organizations and to insulate arts projects in rural and underserved communities. Non-profit organizations or local government entities may apply for up $1,000 to support presentations by members of the MAC's Artist Roster, or to support professional development efforts for an arts organization. An organization may receive one Minigrant per fiscal year.
If you are interested please complete grant application forms by visiting MAC's website at www.arts.state.ms.us, or by calling 601.359.6030. First-time applicants are strongly encouraged to call and speak with a MAC staff member about their project before submitting an application.
KINDER AND YOUNG PEOPLES CONCERTS ARE ALSO AVAILABLE BY REQUEST.
