Chamber I: Best of Baroque

An evening of Masters, including Bach’s toe-tapping Orchestral Suite No. 2 and dances by Handel. The program also features a dazzling performance by 20-year-old violinist Gareth Johnson, the 2009 winner of America’s prestigious Sphinx Competition.

Chamber II: Mozart by Candlelight

Belhaven University Center for the Arts
Bathed in the glow of hundreds of candles, MSO Concertmistress Marta Szlubowska and Ole Miss faculty pianist Ian Hominick join MSO for an evening of favorite Mozart concertos, plus the Overture to The Marriage of Figaro and Mozart’s playful A Musical Joke.

Chamber III: Tales from the Road

Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church
MSO collaborates with some of the Metro area’s finest singers and composers—Viola Dacus, James Martin, James Sclater and Andrew Sauerwein—to create an evening of travelers’ stories including Mahler’s Songs of a Wayfarer and music based on the poetry of C.S. Lewis. This concert is the world premier performance of a new work by Mississippian James Sclater. Stravinsky’s vibrant and popular Pulcinella closes the evening.
