Chamber Series
Intimate evenings. Beautiful music. This is the Chamber Series. Perfect for an evening out, just the two of you.

Chamber I: Baroque Gems
7:30 PM, Saturday, October 01, 2011
St. Andrews Episcopal Cathedral
The crispness and clarity of the MSO Chamber Ensemble are enhanced by the cathedral’s natural acoustics, as will be the virtuosity of guest violinist Stephen Redfield (Associate Professor of Music at the University of Southern Mississippi) as he performs Bach and Vivaldi.

Chamber II: Mozart by Candlelight
7:30 PM, Saturday, January 28, 2012
Belhaven University Center for the Arts
The 12th annual edition of what has become one of the MSO’s most beloved events features our own Principal Flute, Sybil Cheesman, performing the master’s G Major Flute Concerto. Then Mozart’s renowned Symphony No. 38 (Prague), the playful overture to his comic opera Così fan Tutte, and other sparkling favorites will be performed, all enhanced by the luminosity of more than one hundred candles.

Chamber III: Three Thrilling Ensembles
7:30 PM, Friday, March 09, 2012
Mississippi Museum of Art
A trio of Chamber performances features your Symphony’s string quartet, along with its brass and woodwind quintets, playing a collection of works ideally suited for an evening in Downtown Jackson’s premier artistic attraction.
Chamber IV: American Elegy
7:30 PM, Saturday, April 14, 2012
Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church
The Chamber Series comes to a close with Aaron Jay Kernis’ moving tribute to the heroes, victims and survivors of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, works by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt’s spellbinding Fratres, and the evocative music of Ottorino Respighi.
