Jean Meilleur
‘Passionate provocative and distinctive’ - three words that best describe Jean Meilleur’s vocal style. While performing the music of so many artists including the likes of Elton John, The Beatles, David Bowie as well as his own compositions, Jean paints the lyrics and the melody with a thick, robust timbre that is immediately recognizable as his own. Despite the recent proliferation of clone acts and mimics, Jean’s voice stands as a true original.
Jean hails from Madison, Wisconsin.
He was born and remains a Green Bay Packer fanatic! He moved to Detroit, Michigan at a young age. Living in the Motor City helped shape his penchant for the Motown, Soul and R 'n B sounds of the early seventies.
Jean is a prolific songwriter who has been performing professionally for over twenty-five years. He is thrilled to be involved with Jean 'n Classics, a London, Ontario based Orchestral Rock Show, that tours North American concert halls. Now in his fifteenth year as a Jeans 'n Classics headliner, Jean has performed with scores of major North American Orchestras.
“It’s a privilege to share the stage with a symphony orchestra, Peter Brennan’s superb arrangements and a flawless band. To have the opportunity to sing some of the greatest popular music of our time, in my own voice, is a rush beyond compare.”
John Regan
John Regan started to play piano at the age of six, plunking away on the family upright along to his father’s singing of popular standards and church hymns. He soon began formal piano studies, though he continued to hone his ear for popular music. By his teen years, the combination of classical training and an affection for pop and rock music found John spending as much time copying the styles of Elton John, Joe Jackson, and Bruce Hornsby as practicing his Bach and Brahms.
For more than a decade he has been an integral member of the Jeans ’n Classics organization, not only as a musician but also as an emcee for many of their vast selection of concerts. John has performed and played host with the Cincinnati Pops, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and the Calgary Philharmonic, to name but a few. In addition, he maintains the popular “Ask John Regan” Blog at www.jeansnclassics.com, describing life in the Jeans ’n Classics band, documenting the travels and travails of the ensemble.
By day, John is a high school teacher at St. Joseph’s High School in St. Thomas, Ontario, where he also coaches football and conducts the choir. An odd mix, perhaps, but John wouldn’t have it any other way!
