Chamber II: Mozart by Candlelight

The 13th annual edition of what has become one of the MSO’s most beloved events begins with the work of a child genius, Mozart’s Symphony No. 1, composed when he was 8, and ends with his 36th Symphony, written at the height of his compositional maturity.  In between, be swept away by his dramatic C Minor Piano Concerto with Belhaven professor Stephen Sachs on the piano.

Selby & Richard McRae Foundation: Bravo Series - Bravo IV: Beethoven’s Sixth

A concert for romantics - Wagner's glorious depiction of a Norse Mythic Hero, a powerful concerto by Shostakovich and the sumptuous images of nature in Beethoven's picturesque Pastoral Symphony.  Cellist Viktor Uzur from the former Yugoslavia recieved his training at Moscow's Tchaikovsky Conservatory, and has since performed to acclaim around the world.

Pre-concert lecture, 6:45-7:15, at the Mississippi Museum of Art (free; cash bar)
