The Mississippi Symphony Youth Orchestras (MYSO) announce auditions

 

Friday, September 4, 2009 - 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, September 5, 2009 - 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

AUDITION AND APPLICATION PROCESSING FEE: $40*

(Non-Refundable)

 

*Fee is reduced to $30 each for additional students from same family

Auditions will be held at the F.D. Hall Music Center located on the campus of Jackson State University. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled audition time. This will provide time to complete the necessary paperwork and warm-up.

 

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

Strings I and II

• 2 octaves major scale of choice
• prepared solo piece
• sight reading (must have one year reading experience)

 

Intermediate Orchestra (strings, winds, brass and percussion)

• 2 octaves major scale & 2 octaves harmonic minor scale of choice (strings)
• 2 octaves major & harmonic minor scales (winds and brass)
• prepared solo piece
• sight reading

 

Advanced Orchestra (strings, winds, brass and percussion)

• 3 octaves major scale & 3 octaves harmonic minor scale of choice (strings)
• 2 or 3 octaves major & harmonic minor scales (winds and brass)
• prepared solo piece
• sight reading

 

Our first rehearsal will be Sunday, September 6, 2009 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. at the F.D. Hall Music Center. Come ready to pick up your orchestra placement information.

 

Tuition is due at that time!

Tuition depends upon orchestra placement: Strings I and II - $100, Intermediate Orchestra - $150 and Advanced Orchestra - $175. Tuition is an annual assessment.
