MSO Celebrates Success With Close Of 08-09 Season
The 2008-2009 season literally closed with a bang as fireworks brightened the sky over the Ross Barnett Reservoir at the end of this season's Pepsi Pops concert. This popular annual concert was attended by more people than ever-over 3,000 to be exact-and signaled the end of yet another strong MSO season.
Other season highlights included the fabulous 88x8 piano concert (attended by nearly 2,000 people), Bravo V, which celebrated the 100th Birth Anniversary of Eudora Welty with emcee Roger Mudd and the benefit piano concert highlighting special guest Alon Goldstein. Other hits included the Pops II concert featuring Mississippi's own Ora Reed, another sold-out house at Mozart by Candlelight and a highly successful Symphony Ball staged by the Jackson Symphony League. Receptions and special events surrounded many of the concerts and provided a way for the audience to meet each other and the musicians.
Our 2008-2009 season was made possible by our wonderful concert sponsors: Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi, Brown Bottling Group, Regions Bank, St. Dominic Health Services, Selby and Richard McRae Foundation, AT&T Mississippi, BancorpSouth, Business Communications, Inc., Higginbotham Mercedes-Benz, Horne LLP, Jackson Heart Clinic, John and Melody Maxey, Mississippi Health Partners, Copeland Cook Taylor & Bush, Downtown Jackson Partners, EastGroup Properties and media sponsor WLBT. Thank you to all of our generous sponsors as well as numerous concertgoers who helped make our 2008-2009 season a success!
