All City Orchestra Festival for JPS Students a Huge Success

After months of personal practice and instruction on the part of over 400 JPS students enrolled in the string instruction program through the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, the students met for two days of intensive rehearsals with clinicians and then presented a concert on Tuesday, March 31. The standing-room-only audience heard each group perform and then heard all the students play a closing piece together. The string instruction program is one segment of a partnership between MSO and the Jackson Public Schools.  All Elementary students in the system are bussed to concerts performed for them by the full MSO and MSO's three professional ensembles (Woodwind Quintet, String Quartet, Brass Quintet) visit each elementary school during the year.
