MSO collaborates with the Mississippi Humanities Council

MSO is pleased to announce a vibrant collaboration in connection with our exciting evening at opening  night of the Selby and Richard McRae Foundation Bravo Series October 7:  Voicing Joplin.

Joplin’s opera, Treemonisha, will be brought to life in a concert production with 10 soloists, choirs from Jackson State University, Tougaloo College and Mississippi College and the full MSO.  With its themes of education, women as leaders and civil rights, it is a timely presentation at the time of our state’s Bicentennial.  (7:30pm, Thalia Mara Hall)

Partnering with the Mississippi Humanities Council, MSO is thrilled to announce a pre-concert event with noted author and leader Ibram X. Kendi, recipient of the 2016 National Book Award (non-fiction) for his book Stamped From the Beginning.
