Sybil M. Cheesman: Flute
Sybil has been with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra since 1972. She became principal flute and one of the founding members of the MSO woodwind quintet in the fall of 1978. Her responsibilities include playing concerts at elementary schools in Jackson and surrounding areas and all performances of the MSO. She performs concerts locally, teaches at Mississippi College and Belhaven College and has an active private flute studio. A graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi (B.M., M.M.), she has performed with the Meridian, Pensacola, Gulf Coast and Mobile symphonies. She also performs with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. She is the founder and director of Magnolia Flutes, a community flute choir. Her husband, Bob, is also a member of the MSO. They have two grown children.
