Scottye Rackley: MSO 4th Horn

A native of Yazoo City, Scottye Rackley has been a permanent member of the French horn section of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra since 1998. She holds a Master of Arts in Horn Performance from the University of Iowa. Mrs. Rackley is currently a student of Gregory Hustis of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. She has also studied privately with Frøydis Ree Wekre in Oslo, Norway and with the late Arnold Jacobs of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Mrs. Rackley served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant to Dr. Kristin Thelander at the University of Iowa for the 1996-1997 school year and was a tenured hornist with the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra from 1996-1998. Prior to this she was the French horn instructor at Morningside College of Sioux City, Iowa for the 1994-1995 academic year. While a resident of Iowa, she held jobs with the symphonies of Des Moines and Sioux City. She also performed frequently as a member of the French horn sections in the symphonies of Lincoln (Nebraska) and South Dakota (Sioux Falls). While studying with Frøydis Ree Wekre in Norway Mrs. Rackley performed with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra during their 1993-1994 season.

Mrs. Rackly is a member of the Golden Triangle Brass Quintet, has been on the faculty of Mississippi State University, and teaches elementary music at Manchester Academy in Yazoo City.  She is married to MSO Principal Tuba, Wade Rackley.
