Jon Wenberg: Bassoon
Jon Wenberg has been a resident of Mississippi since 1993 where he serves as Principal Bassoonist for both The Mississippi Symphony, and The Meridian Symphony Orchestras. He also performs with The Mississippi Symphony’s Woodwind Quintet, and with many other ensembles around the state. Originally from rural Wisconsin, Jon studied at Northwestern University, where he earned both Bachelor and Master degrees in Bassoon Performance. He then spent one year at the Cincinnati University College-Conservatory of Music as an Artist Diploma student.
Along with his college studies, Jon also participated with the Aspen Music Festival for five summers. He has been fortunate to study and perform with some of the most admired bassoonist in the country, including members of the Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Pittsburg Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, and San Francisco Symphony Orchestras.
In his spare time Jon enjoys woodcarving, cooking strange meals, and playing the piano very badly.
