Cheri Waite

Flute & Piccolo

Cheri Waite has played Third Flute and Piccolo with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra for thirty six years.  She received her music degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and has taught music in the public and private schools of Jackson in the past and presently teaches flute privately.  She is also a freelance musician and contractor.  She has taught seventh grade Sunday school for the last eighteen years at First Baptist Church, Jackson, and has played in their “Carols By Candlelight” for many years.   She has worked in the medical supply business at Oliver Diabetic Supply for over twenty years and also owns a direct marketing business.

One of Cheri’s favorite pastimes is taking excursions throughout Mississippi with her husband, Charlie, as he captures the natural beauty of our state through photography.  She also loves spending time with her two adult children and their spouses, her granddaughter, and her parents, all of whom live at distances.

Cheri is thankful for the blessing of having had the opportunity to perform for so many years and is looking forward to many more, as well as to a bright future for the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra.
